The Escape from the Atoll
Date: 02/14/16
Time: 30 minutes before the completion of Operation Warden
Joenomrc stared blankly at the ocean, his heart heavy with sadness. The team he and Jake Stormer formed a bond with, disowning them on one of the most dangerous places they've been since entering the war. Jake was busy talking to Silver Shot, the two playing cards after Jake fixed him while Kisa went around in her probe, scanning for anything useful. Aero had told them to get off the atoll soon, or else they would be stuck. However, without portals they weren't able to leave. Joe was trying to think of a way when it hit him.
"Jake! Get over here! We're getting off this island!" Joe declared. Jake looked lazily over before getting up. Silver Shot chuckled as he counted all the money he got from beating Jake at poker.
"I swear you cheated, you son-of-a-bitch...." Jake grumbled. Silver Shot laughed
"Boy, I didn't cheat. You're just a fish when it comes to 7-card Stud. I simply took advantage of an opportunity. And made a nice bit of tin too. That's why ya don't go bettin' against a speeler like me." Silver pocketed the money while Jake looked at him confused.
"Fucking speak English! I don't know your stupid cowboy words!" Jake shouted. Joe rolled his eyes.
"Jake, shut up. You're the one who suggested playing cards anyway. Now get over here. We're getting off of this island."
Jake grumbled a little more before standing next to Joe. Kisa's probe returned, hovering a few feet above their heads. Silver Shot chuckled, taking a swig from his whiskey bottle. He didn't get up to move at all.
"Silver Shot? Aren't you coming?" Joe asked. The cowboy shook his head.
"As much as I'd like to get outta here and back home, I gotta finish what I started. I got myself a few fellas to turn into gals. I be seeing you around, I'm sure." With that, Silver Shot whistled and Zinc came galloping from the distance. Silver Shot jumped into the air, his horse not even stopping as he hopped on its back and rode off. Joe looked at his watch, knowing they were running out of time.
"Okay Jake. I want to write a huge stone pillar in, tall enough to be out of the atoll's effects. At that point, write us a portal out of here. Got it?"
Jake nodded as he already began to write. The ground started to shake as a huge pillar rose from the sand, with the two guys and the A.I.'s probe being lifted up into the air.
Looks like their time on the atoll, was over.
